Confederate Forces Threaten Rail Lines

Attacks Expected June 15th and August 31st!

Leaderless ruffians claiming to be the 15th Alabama Regiment have been reported in Cumberland County. Union Army sources were unable to confirm whether these are regular Confederate troops or irregular partisans seeking only to pillage. Local Militia units have been called to arms and are patrolling road and rail junctions, and providing protection to trains. Director A. T. Zittel of the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad in Portland says “our passengers should rest assured that there is no danger, and that every one of our trains has a full complement of Militia soldiers as guards.” The rumor amongst the Militia is that the most likely day for an attack is on Saturday, June 15th and again on August 31st, between 10 am and 4 pm, at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, 58 Fore St., Portland, Maine, on the Portland waterfront.  Directions.  More on Maine Rebels/15th Alabama Regiment.
