boy with flag in the train museumOne hundred years ago on August 19, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared the United States would remain neutral in the conflict waging in Europe. The United States eventually did come to the assistance of our European Allies and helped bring victory to “the war to end all wars. The museum will honor all veterans on Tuesday the 19th to thank them for their contribution to our freedom and the freedom of nations around the globe. Veterans will ride for free all day. A special train will run at 2:00 with bagpipers escorting veterans to the train. Following the train ride, the story of the Kennebec Central Railroad will be shared, refreshments served, and veterans thanked. The event runs from 1pm-4pm with a special train ride at 2pm.
