Parking: There is limited free customer parking available in front of the museum with a parking pass. Parking passes can be obtained from the front desk when purchasing your train tickets or museum admission. Please let the desk attendant know you need a parking pass when you purchase your tickets. Place the pass on your vehicle’s dash for the duration of your visit. Please keep in mind space may be limited. The lot in front of the museum is a Pay to Park lot, so if you do not obtain a pass at the front desk, you will be ticketed. If the parking lot is full, the Ocean Gateway Parking Garage (167 Fore Street) is just a short walk away. Metered parking is available on the surrounding streets.
Directions: From I 295 (North or South) – Take Franklin Street Arterial (Exit 7). Turn Left on Fore Street. The museum is located at 58 Fore Street in the Portland Company Complex located on the right hand side of the street. Drive through the complex to park in the lot in front of the museum, which faces the waterfront. The entrance to the museum faces the water.
Parking: Polar Express parking is available in an attended lot directly next to Ocean Gateway for a fee (except on days when there is a city-wide parking ban due to snow). The closest parking garage is the Ocean Gateway Parking Garage at 167 Fore Street. There is a fee for parking in the garage. There are several other parking garages in the Old Port and limited street parking available around Ocean Gateway. The gravel parking lot located directly across the street from Ocean Gateway is a Pay to Park lot. You must pay at the meter station if you wish to park there or you will get a parking ticket from the City of Portland. There is NO parking available at the museum and the museum is not open during the event.
Directions: All trains for Polar Express depart from Ocean Gateway and the museum is not open during the event. The Ocean Gateway Visitor Center is located at 14 Thames Street. From I 295 (North or South) – Take Franklin Street Arterial (Exit 7). Turn LEFT onto Commercial Street. Continue STRAIGHT through the stop sign at Commercial & India Streets. At the next stop sign at Hancock Street you will be able to see the Ocean Gateway Visitor Center (the building with clock tower) on the right hand side of the road.
