Membership helps to support our mission by preserving our collection and educating the public about Maine's narrow gauge railways.


Student - $25.00 USD
Individual - $50.00 USD
Family* - $125.00 USD
Life - $625.00 USD
* Family Rates include 2 adults and 2 dependent children

You can become a member online - by selecting your membership level below and paying with PayPal or a credit card. Please be sure to list the name(s) you wish to appear on the membership. If you prefer to mail your payment, fill out a Membership Form and return it to the office at 49 Thames Street, Portland, ME 04101.

All checks should be made payable to the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum. Volunteers who donate more than 40 hours of their time a year get 50% off their membership. Membership fees already paid can not be adjusted or reimbursed at a later date if the volunteer is already a member. Volunteers wanting to know more about this program should ask a staff representative for details.


The Benefits of Membership Include:

  • Free train tickets in coach class for regular service trains throughout the season*
  • The ability to attend some special events at 50% off regular event pricing**
  • Discounted train tickets for guests
  • 10% discount in the gift shop
  • Voting rights - including the annual election of the Board of Trustees.

Please Note:

  • Memberships are good for one full calendar year from the date of purchase.
  • *Regular service trains are defined as our normal daily operating trains.
  • **Special Event tickets are discounted 50% of regular pricing for the following: Spring Aboard, Ice Cream Trains, Sunset Expresses, the Independence Limited, and Pumpkin Trains. Any events priced above our regular coach class ticket rates may not be included as a benefit of membership (including The Polar Express Train Ride™ and First Class upgrades)
  • The museum is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Membership levels are deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Please consult your tax adviser with specific deduction questions.
